There are a lot of family travel blogs, what makes this different?

Welcome to our first post! So why are we here?

I am Sarah an avid traveler, wanderer who is constantly thinking about her next adventure. I spend hours enjoying reading all about interesting places in the world and planning trips for my family of 3. In 2009 I married my travel partner for life and we passed down our love for travel when we had M in 2010. M is currently a 13 year old middle school girl with a passion for travel and discovering new places.

After planning epic adventures during my single life (including a 6 week trip around the world) and now for my family, I have found that I am always sharing travel advice for friends and family. This blog hopes to share with the world not only my thoughts and perspectives when planning and experiencing travel, but that of a kid too. While I may have thought the wonderful ferry to Chrissi Island in Crete was a great idea, my then 12 year old daughter was NOT a fan of the 15 minute swim from the ferry to the remote beach. When researching trips I realized I rely heavily on reading different blogs to start to piece together our itinerary but I saw a gap in the voice of the child directly - that child art tour of El Prado in Madrid, did the kid REALLY enjoy it? (spoiler alert: she loved it).

You will hear a summary of experience for each trip from M. We have curated a list of Q&A with her unfiltered perspective.

Lastly, for anyone reading a travel blog I think it is important to share what type of traveler are you - backpacker? luxury?

I would say we are middle of the road travelers. We tend to combine both VRBO/AirBnB lodgings along with hotels. We are Marriott Bonvoy Platinum members through our Amex credit cards and United MileagePlus members. When staying in hotels we tend to try to maximize using points to stay in their collection of hotels that have a wide range of quality and style. Given our passion for travel and hope to book as many experiences in a year that our school/work calendars allow - we don't tend to break the bank on any one trip but try to be as economical in comfort as possible on each trip.

We hope you enjoy following our adventures as much as we enjoy taking them and hope to inspire you to book a trip too. We hope that the contents of this blog inspire your inner wanderlust and give you practical advice to plan your own journey. Happy travels!
